What is a Retirement KITAS?
It’s a long-term visa that allows retirees aged 55+ to legally live in Indonesia for 1 year at a time, renewable up to 5 years. You don’t need to work—just enjoy the slow island life, with access to local services and tax residency benefits.

Who Can Apply?
- You must be 55 years or older
- You must not plan to work or do business in Indonesia
- You must have life & health insurance
- You must lease a home for 1 year
- You must hire a local maid/helper
- You must prove $1,500/month pension or funds ($18,000/year)
Requirements – What You Need to Apply
- Passport with 18+ months validity
- CV
- Health & life insurance
- Lease agreement (1 year minimum)
- Maid/helper ID (KTP)
- Statement that you won’t work
- Photograph with red background
- Proof of pension or bank funds
- Copy of marriage certificate
- One of the couple applies as main retiree
- The other applies as a dependent
- Same support documents as above

How long is the Retirement KITAS valid?
1 year, renewable up to 5 times.
Can I apply for KITAP later?
Yes, after 5 years with the Retirement KITAS.
Can I bring my spouse or children?
Yes. Spouse = Dependent KITAS. Children under 18 = Dependent Visa.
What about children?
Children under 18 years can accompany you on a dependent visa.
Do I need to visit an embassy?
No need! Since late 2020, you can now apply online and receive an e-Visa.
Will I have to pay taxes in Indonesia?
Yes, as a KITAS holder, you’re considered a tax resident and must declare global income.
Which countries can’t apply?
Applicants from Afghanistan, Guinea, Israel, North Korea, Cameroon, Liberia, Niger, Nigeria, and Somalia are not eligible.
